habe hier mal ein paar summaries von 7 & 8 die wir in der Schule geschrieben haben
7:Chapter 7 begins in autumn 1916. Henry lives together with Annie In her house and works as a docker at the Custom House Docks. Henry's life consists of Annie, the dockers and drinking alcohol. While working at the docks Henry gets to know Jack Dalton. At first Henry suspect him being an G-man. But Jack Dalton tells Henry that he got to know him in the Easter Rising. They become old friends. Jack is a member of the Volunteers and he convinces Henry to join either. Henry gets to know by Jack that he became a legend, he is one of the Easter Rising heroes. Again Henry is ready to die for Ireland. His relationship to Annie wears off because her dead husband returns from World War I. Furthermore Henry contacts Granny Nash, by bringing her books he gets information about the relationship of Alfie Gandon and his father. Later on Henry kills a G-man for the first time.
8:
Henry murders a policeman at a protest meeting. He uses the wood-leg of his father to knock down his victim. He remains undiscovered. The murder is used to appear as an accident. Only the police officers at Dublin Castle are used to interpret it as a challenge. Henrys plan works and the police overacts. Because of that, the hatred of the civil people against the British grows and the civil people support the freedom fighters from now on.
Later, Henry is confused because he gets two different versions of who Alfie Gandon really is. Granny Nash tells him that Gandon is a cruel killer who only thinks of himself. But Jack Dalton says that Gandon is a benefactor and he is the head of the freedom fighter- group.
Then, Thomas Ashe, a close friend of Michael Collins, dies in prison because of forcible-feeding.
Henry has no scruple of murdering police officers because, in his opinion, they are no humen.
Henry gets an order from Collins. He leaves Dublin on a bycicle. After a trip from hell, he arrives at his target, where Collins already waits for him to tell him that the trip was only a test of loyalty.
Henry meets Miss O'Shea's mother, who pretends not to have a daughter that is a teacher.
