Dieser Thread dient als Übersicht und benötigt die Beteiligung und Aufmerksamkeit aller!

Das heißt im Klartext, ihr Postet eure Stichpunkte, Verbesserungsvorschläge, Ergänzungen etc. unter meinem Post. Ich nehme diese mit in meinem auf und wir erhalten eine Übersicht in der so ziemlich alles stehen sollte. Natürlich wird dann auch euer Name in diesem Post stehen.

  The term 'American Dream' was first used by James Truslow Adams in 1931 to explain what had attracted millions of people of all nations to settle in America.
  
• Manifest Destiny (an ideology)
  
  Americas self-image: promised land, choosen by good
  
  As god's chosen it is Americas right to guide the whole world and to overspread it completely.
  - Civilisation moved to West to explore wilderness. (New frontiers)
  - Now they went into space exploring to keep the dream alive (NASA projects)
  
• Melting Pot & Salad Bowl (the reality)
  
  • Melting Pot
  
  To create a new America, a new nation out of different nation's people from different cultures and religions 'melt' together. They will lose their identities and take the American one.
  
  Three classes of emigrants
  1) Pioneers (farmers)
  2) Emigrants who purchase or buy land/fields (to build schools..)
  3) Men of capital and enterprise (settler is ready to sell out and take advantage of the rise in poverty)
  
  • Salad Bowl (the reality)
  
  Different cultures stay on their own in America. Examples out of NY: China Town, Little Italia, German clubs, spanish speaking communities.
  
• How you need to be to climb the stair 'from dishwasher to millionaire' or 'from rags to riches'
  
  • Character traits:

  - temperance (zurückhaltung )
  - prudence (Klugheit )
  - integrity (Unversehrtheit )
  - economy (Sparsamkeit )
  - punctuality (Pünktlichkeit )
