Hallo Leutz, hab irgendwie mein Buch verloren und muss bis montag die geschichte vorführen können...hab keine chance die geschichte noch irgendwie zu kopieren...und im inet (Google) hab ich sie leider auch net gefunden...also wer zufällig nen text in dateiformat hat bitte mal hochstellen oder vllt hat auch irgendwer lust die einzuscannen^^

also ich muss die Geschichte im Unterricht grad machen und hier ist meine Zusammenfassung :
The short story "High Ground" written by John McGahern deals with a man,named Moran, who is asked to be headmaster.
The young man Moran is rowing on the shannon river, while thinking about his girlfriend, as the senator Regan calls him. He offers Moran to become principal of the school, because his own children go there and he is not satisfied with the current headmaster, Master Leddy, who is getting old and has alcohol problems. Moran does not know what to do, because he does not want to replace his own former teacher Master Leddy.
During the conversation Moran zones out. He remembers his visit at Master leddy's three days ago: how friendly he was and the advices he gave him for his future life.
So he decides to tell the senator that he has to think about it and rows home. At home he finds his sister still awake, who tells him that they do not have anymore water, so he goes to get some from the well. On his way he hears Leddys drunken voice coming from the pub, talking about the high intelligence of the village and that it seems to be because of the High Ground. The reader does not know how Moran decides, as the story has an open end.
