Die diesjährigen Themen sind ja:

Harlem,
Strage Fruit,
To Kill a Mockingbird,
The Tell- Tale Heart,
A Scandal in Bohemia,
A Scandal in Belgravia,
East is East/Crash und
The Merchant of Venice. Ich komme mit den meisten Themen echt gut vorran aber ich weiß nicht so ganz, was ich zu The Merchant of Venice und Crash lernen soll. Was lernt ihr zu diesen Themen?

1) alle im Film sind in gewisser Hinsicht Opfer aber auch Täter von Rassismus, unabhängig ihrer Herkunft
2) crime, violence und gun culture in the US: hier auf Three Strikes Law, police brutality, Second Ammendment, etc. und references dazu im Film eingehen
3) Double-Consciousness: concept von WEB Du Bois
4) police shootings im Zusammenhand mit LAPD und post 9/11 mood in LA (Bspw. Michael Brown, Baltimore, Black LIves Matter Movement, etc.)
5) Health insurance und dessen Problematik in Amerika (Officer Ryans Papa)
6) affirmative action (officer Ryans papa)
7) illusion and reality of the american dream (Farhad vs. Cameron)

--> Crash as a movie that that gives face to racism and race-relations in modern America...
--> Challanges us to reflect our own behaviour; the film doesnt provide any kind of solution for all the problems
